Frequently asked questions
Telehealth allows you to attend psychology sessions online from the comfort of your own space. It works just like a regular session, but instead of coming into a practice, we connect over a secure video call. A link to your appointment is sent via email which you just click on. There is no need to download anything.
Secure and encrypted platforms will be used for both Telehealth calls and client records, which are in compliance with Australian Privacy Principles. These platforms are Halaxy, Coviu and Proton Mail.
Telehealth is suitable for teenagers and adults seeking support for a range of concerns and presentations. All you need is a quiet space, secure Wi-Fi, and ideally a laptop or computer for better quality. Phones are okay too.
Telehealth is not suitable for crisis or emergency situations. If you are in need of immediate support or are experiencing a mental health crisis, please consider contacting emergency services such as Lifeline (13 11 14) which operates 24/7 or present to your nearest hospital Emergency Department if you are at immediate risk or need urgent care.
As a psychologist registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), I am only able to see clients who hold Australian citizenship. I can also provide services to clients residing in Australia and certain common law countries - including England, Scotland, Ireland, and New Zealand.
Please note that you do not need a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) to access sessions with me, as the service is not eligible for Medicare rebates. To reflect this, session fees are set at a lower, more affordable private rate. This means we will not be restricted by the Medicare limit of 10 rebated sessions per calendar year, giving you the flexibility to attend as often as you feel is beneficial.
You do not need a referral from another service to get started - you can simply self-refer. Just fill in your details on the enquiry form. You will receive an email with an intake form attached for you to complete. Once this form has been returned, you will be ready to book your appointments.
Payments are required prior to your appointment. Invoices are sent securely via email, and payments are processed through Stripe - a trusted, encrypted online payment platform that complies with Australian privacy and security standards.
When you pay your first invoice, you will have the option to securely save your card details for future sessions. This enables automatic payments, reducing admin for you and keeping the process smooth. Your payment information is stored securely by Stripe - not by me, and you can request to remove your saved card details at any time.
If you need to cancel or reschedule, please provide at least 24 hours notice. Sessions cancelled with less than 24 hours notice will incur a late fee. A reminder SMS and/or email will be sent before every appointment.
Before your consultation, you will receive a link to a video call. The consultation runs for 15 minutes, and you can choose whether to have your camera turned on or off. This is not a therapy session, but rather an opportunity to:
• Ask any questions about the service.
• Get a sense of whether we are the right fit to work together.
• Hear what therapy might look like with me, based on the support you’re seeking.
When you select a time for your consultation, you will first receive an email confirming that your request has been received. Please note this is only a preferred time slot and is not yet confirmed. I will review your request and, once your appointment is approved, you will receive a formal confirmation email with your secured time. If you do not see the confirmation, please check your junk folder or contact me via the enquiry form.
The first few sessions are about getting to know each other and helping you feel comfortable. I will ask some questions to better understand your history and what has been happening for you, and we will talk about what you would like to get out of therapy. I will also explain how the process works so you know what to expect. Together, we will start shaping your goals before moving into the next stage of therapy, where we explore patterns and introduce strategies that can support you.
